Morris Nichols Contribution Bolsters the Delaware Lawyers Assistance Fund
Morris Nichols is proud to contribute a $20,000 Leadership Gift to bolster the Delaware Lawyers Assistance Fund (DE-LAF). The DE-LAF plays a pivotal role in sustaining the initiatives of the Delaware Lawyers Assistance Program (DE-LAP), which provides confidential treatment to legal professionals contending with substance abuse/dependence and/or mental and physical health challenges.
“Our firm values the health and welfare of our team and the Delaware legal community more broadly,” said Bill Lafferty, chair of Morris Nichols’ executive committee. “Camaraderie and respect are hallmarks of the Delaware Bar. Backing the fund is just one way to show our support for our Delaware colleagues who need assistance.”
Established in 2014 to facilitate impaired lawyers’ access to outside treatment with top professionals, the Fund initially secured support and funding from the Delaware Judiciary, the Delaware State Bar Association, and the Delaware State Bar Insurance Services. Over the past ten years, the Fund has helped legal professionals receive critical treatment that otherwise would not have been available. Today, those funds have diminished.
“Now more than a decade old, the fund has provided financial resources for treatment for legal professionals who cannot otherwise afford it,” said Karen Jacobs, Morris Nichols IP partner and DE-LAF co-chair. “Support from law firms will ensure these efforts continue for another decade and beyond.”
