On Monday, November 15, 2021, the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware announced Judge Christopher S. Sontchi will retire, effective June 30, 2022. Immediately following retirement, Judge Sontchi will serve as an International Judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court, focusing on insolvency matters.

Morris Nichols bankruptcy and restructuring partner Andrew Remming spoke to Law360 regarding the announcement and reflecting on Judge Sontchi’s years of service in Delaware.

“During his tenure on the bench, Judge Sontchi oversaw some of the largest and most complex restructuring cases in Delaware,” Andrew commented. “He approached all of his cases with academic rigor, an unyielding commitment to the rehabilitation of the companies before him, and a deep concern for all parties affected by the restructuring. It was an honor to serve as his clerk and then appear before him for over a decade.”

Andrew served as a judicial clerk for Judge Sontchi from 2007 to 2008.  View the full article from Law360.
