Morris Nichols retains its status as a top patent litigation law firm in Lex Machina’s 2021 Patent Litigation Report released today.

This data-driven annual review looks at federal district court trends to glean insights into courts, judges, parties, and law firm activities.

Morris Nichols is the only firm to appear among the top ten most active law firms in US district court patent litigation for both plaintiff and defense side work. Lex Machina listed Morris Nichols #8 nationally among law firms representing plaintiffs (with 114 filed cases in 2020) and #3 nationally among law firms representing defendants (with 89 cases filed in 2020).

“Delaware continues to be a strong patent litigation forum, with very skilled and knowledgeable judges who know how to move cases along,” said Morris Nichols IP litigator Michael Flynn. “Morris Nichols has an interesting niche representing plaintiffs and defendants. We have both lead counsel and co-counsel Delaware capabilities, and routinely work with the very best patent litigators across the country. Our clients and co-counsel know they can rely on us to step up and take an active role during any phase of the litigation.”

According to additional data from Lex Machina’s platform, Morris Nichols has appeared in more than 1,200 patent cases over the past five years, including more than 30% of all cases filed in Delaware. That volume is a testament to Morris Nichols’ premier status.
