2012 ABA Working Group on Legal Opinions Fall Seminar
Louis Hering, Morris Nichols Commercial Law Counseling Group partner, will serve as co-chair and will speak on the featured breakout session entitled The Role of Facts in Legal Opinions at the 2012 Working Group on Legal Opinions Fall Seminar, October 29-30, 2012, in New York City.
The Breakout Session will consider how lawyers address the factual underpinnings of their opinions, whether through assumptions, certifications or otherwise. It will discuss how that practice has evolved and how it may continue to evolve, and will consider the perspective of both transactional lawyers and local counsel. The discussion will be based on several hypotheticals as well as the experience of session participants.
Joining Lou on the session are Richard R. Howe, Partner, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and Peter H. Blessing, Partner, Shearman & Sterling LLP.
The ABA Working Group on Legal Opinions was formed in 2007. Its mission is to provide a national forum for the discussion of important issues relating to closing opinions. Participants in the Working Group on Legal Opinions include opinion givers, opinion recipients, the ABA, State and local bars as well as rating agencies and law firm malpractice insurers. Lou serves on the Working Group’s Steering Committee and Law Firm Advisory Board.
